This week the comic corner is back…in full force!! I have managed to find several great comics…some new some old for your enjoyment!
First up is one from newcomer Sparkly Doom. I love this one because it’s just putting out there what I know we all thought when we started doing our Sons of Hodir dailies! Haha!
Next I found a few from Daily Quests that tickled my funny bone. The first, called Goblin Ingenuity, shows the possible result of improperly installed rocket packs! The next one called All’s Fair in Love and Warcraft is just plain funny…boys can be so gullible! The last one from DQ teaches us a valuable lesson…to Always Listen to Your Elders. Love it!
The next couple for this week are from another newcomer, K’s Grab Bag. The first one from this artist shows a triumphant pair looting their kill, it’s amazing what forest animals carry on them sometimes! Next from this artist we have Insults to Injury which teaches a valuable lesson…do NOT pick on your healer before a major fight!! HAHA
Next up is one from Complex Actions that is a great showing of just what desperate players might resort to when farming mats. Neckrokleptomania is simply hilarious…oh and I love the word!!
Ok, so this week it was hard to choose from all the great movies out there, but I did and I have chosen a couple of them that will help get everyone in the holiday spirit if you’re not there already.
- The first movie this week is a very cheerful holiday music video written and produced by one of my favorite Machinima Artists, Cranius. It’s called Greatfather Winter and if this one doesn’t get you excited for the upcoming holidays you must have ice running through your veins! Nice job, Cranius!
- The next one I wanted to share with you this week is from Oxhorn, and although it’s more of an advertisement, I still liked it and I have to admit…I bought the album and I LOVE it! Check out Oxhorn’s Christmas for Geeks.
So that’s it for this week’s movies…enjoy them and have a great holiday!
This week’s movie is one from Silverlined Productions and I think it’s quite suiting considering the proximity to the release of 3.3. Revenge Act 2 is another teaser vidoe for the Revenge movie which will hopefully be coming soon! In this video, our hero is finally getting the chance at a show down with the Lich King, which is truly appropriate since patch 3.3 is releasing to day to live realms. This is an excellent video just like the first one and I love the way our main character, Nixxiom, is idealized into the perfect hero! I cannot wait to see the final film once it is all done…but isn’t that the point of the trailer? To keep us wanting more? Well it has worked!
3.3 is releasing today to live servers! Below are the latest patch notes available at the time of this post! Enjoy!
General
- Icecrown Citadel
- All three wings of the 5-player dungeon are currently available for testing.
- Select encounters in the 10- and 25-player raid dungeon are available for limited testing.
- Additional Icecrown Citadel raid content will be made available in future test builds. For more information and testing schedules please visit our Test Realm forum: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?forumId=11572&sid=1
- Quel’Delar Quest Chain: The Battered Hilt, the item needed to start this quest line, can now be purchased from all glyph vendors on the public test realms.
- Character Creation: The descriptions for races, classes, and race/class combinations have been improved to provide new players with a better idea of the roles and advantages of each class and race.
- Dazed: Creatures attacking a player from behind can no longer cause players level 1-5 to be dazed, and have a reduced chance to cause players level 6-10 to be dazed.
- Knockbacks no longer dismount players. If on a flying mount, you will be knocked back a short distance before being able to resume flying.

- Attack is now called Auto Attack. The tooltip has been changed to reflect that the player will continue automatically attacking a target.
- Meeting Stones: To use any Meeting Stone, it is only required that the character’s minimum level be 15. There is no maximum character level requirement for any Meeting Stone.
- Copied Test Realm characters will no longer be copied with their achievement history in order to better facilitate the character copy process.
Warning!! The information in this post and the associated links contain MAJOR spoilers regarding WoW’s next expansion! If you do not want to know this information, we suggest you skip this! So, that being said…here goes. Many details about the new expansion have been leaked over the past week and while none of the included information has been verified by Blizzard at this time, we feel all sources from which it is coming are reliable and have not steered us wrong in the past! Much of this will likely be announced at BlizzCon this weekend, but you can say you heard it here first!
So, the first thing I’d like to talk about is the raise in the leveling cap. This is likely only going up five levels to 85. This suggests that Blizzard wants these five levels to be quite a big deal that gaining even one level will really mean something instead of having a one down four to go feeling about it.
Next up is, of course the new races. Goblins will be joining the Horde while the Alliance will have the Worgen joining their ranks. These new alliances will be formed as a result of the events of the Cataclysm. Each new race’s allegiance will be explained through lore and questlines in much the same manor as the arrival of other races and classes in the past. With this we will also see some new race/class combos we have never before seen in Warcraft.
While questing in the Outland for (I’m ashamed to admit ) the first time I came accross quite a few things that puzzled me, irritated me or frustrated me, however I was always able to figure things out. But I have to say I was at quite a loss when it came to one particular quest in the Area 52 part of Netherstorm…Dr. Boom! All I wanted to do was kill that annoying little butthead so I could complete the quest, get my XP and move on with my life…huh easier said than done! I tried a few times to be sneaky and quick but to no avail. He killed me, not I him. It was with great reluctance that I asked my hubby for help…I mean I know he’s been around the block a few times so he’s wiser (well, at least when it comes to WoW). I just like to be able to claim that “I figured it out all by myself!” (oh geesh, I sound like I’m 3) Anyhow, he was able to set me up with a strategy that truly made the quest as easy as pie for my beastmastry hunter, so I figured I would share it with you in hopes of saving some poor frustrated soul the agony of attempting this task in a conventional way…it won’t work and the repair bill really sucks!
So, here’s what to do:
1. Tell your pet to “Stay”
2. Wait for an opening in the march of his little suicidal bomber minions
3. Step in and throw down a frost trap – this will cause the little minions to explode on contact of the ice so they never get close to you! Boy…this quest just got a whole lot easier already!
4. While the frost trap is active take a few steps toward Dr. Boom and chuck the “Boom’s Doom” bombs at him (these are the only things that even hurt him…you can shoot him all day and he will just stand there!!) Just be sure to throw one, walk out of his range and then go back to throw another once the cooldown is up. If you stay there he will throw things back at you, and they do not tickle!
All you need to do is repeat these steps until the meniacle little goblin dies and voila! 12k XP, nearly 4g and a decent piece of armor. Whew! was I glad when that was done. I decided after that I had to go into town and see Boots (the bartender) and get me a mug of Cherry Grog to wash away the stress. Ahhh yes….much better now!
Players will now receive a Zhevra Mount whenever they recruit a friend to the game! I am going to invite all of my friends so I can get one for every single character…find out details below from a post on the Blizzard Forums.
Other bonuses include TRIPLE experience rates when partied with your linked recruit account. If they upgrade from the free-trial account to a paid account you will also receive a free 30 days of gameplay.
What is “Recruit-A-Friend”?
Our new friend referral system allows you to recruit some of your friends to join you in World of Warcraft by sending them an invitation email containing a trial activation key. With this key, your friends will be able to set up their own trial accounts.
To start this process log on to the Account Management section and click the Recruit-A-Friend button. This will take you to the actual friend referral page, where you can enter a friend’s email address and name one at a time. If you want, you can also enter a message that will be included in the invitation email.
What in-game benefits do we get while the accounts we play are linked?
1. Characters on both accounts can summon each other once per hour.
2. While adventuring with your linked friend/family member, you will each gain triple experience.
3. For every two levels the new player earns, the new player can grant one free level-up to a lower-level character played by the veteran player. Read the rest of this entry »

Blizzard has just announced that they will be hosting Blizzcon 2008!
Blizzcon 2008 will be hosted at a convention center in Anaheim California on October 10th and 11th. This time the convention center will be able to support up to 50% more visitors for Blizzcon. Tickets will be $100 and are set go on sale August 11th.
For those of you who may not know what Blizzcon is here is a quick rundown of things you would expect to see there:
- You would get the chance to using gaming stations and play many of the upcoming betas, most likely to include; Starcraft 2, Wrath of the Lich King (Most Likely New and Upcoming Raid Dungeons), and possiblly some Diablo III coverage!
- You will hear the Game Developers give talks and presentations about upcoming plans for game releases and the like.
- There will definitely be a major gaming tournament set for this event too, you can count on that.
- Those who attend are usually given a large grab bag too, that includes many neat and valuable items for Blizzard Gamers.
- Last but not least Blizzard usually saves one big announcement for this event.
There is a confirmed project that Blizzard is currently working on they have not announced to the public at all yet. This would be about the right time frame and the perfect setting for Blizzard to announce what this project is.
On the contrary, will Blizzard really want to release details from this before they even release WotLK? It may be hard to keep an interest in so many developing projects all at once… as always with speculation… only time will tell!
The last interesting Tidbit is taht Blizzcon will be broadcasted through DirectTV on a Pay Per View channel. With a customer base of 20 million plus this is a rather interesting idea, and we will have to wiat and see how successful it is. I know I would much rather enjoy the sunny skies of Cali in October!
Well I found some HUGE news this morning on the WoW forums. It was a thread started about the pains of the current talent respeccing system.
The argument that was brought to light was comapring PvP to PvE. They said for a raider to get the most out of raiding they have to be a certain spec, but they have off nights and may enoy to PvP…so they have to spend 50 gold to respec PvP in order to get the most out of it. Then the next raid comes the following day and its another 50g down the drain for a respec again.
Its really time consuming to have to remember where every single talent point goes, and I know I usually go work it out on Wowhead before I put any points in. One mistake and you just cost yourself another 50g for no reason at all. This also works both ways, if a Harcore PvPer were to try and get the most out of PvE they would also need to respec.
So in response to this “problem” Bornka (A Blizzard Community Poster) said this:
“We talked about this recently at the Worldwide Invitational actually. We are looking into allowing players to basically have two talent specs that they can switch between but we are still working out the exact details so we will have to wait and see exactly how it will function in-game.”
At first this sounds great, and to me it is fine, but there are drawbacks to this too! If you take away the respeccing costs then there will be more gold in the economy and we will see a significant rise in prices over a short period of time… much like when the mass amounts of daily quests were introduced. I know I am sick of paying 15-20 gold for Shards now…can you imagine 35g?
Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love the idea of being able to respec on the fly, and have a second talent spec waiting in the wings. However there must be some sort of sunk cost associated with it. Will they charge players 5,000g or more in order to have that switch on the fly talent spec?
Secondly, how will they restrict the changing of the talent specs? Will you need to be in a major city to do it… will they allow you to simply switch in the middle of an instant or raid? All things are left to ponder right now as Blizzard is being extremely vague about how this will work.
In the end I love this idea, and I really hope it can be implemented in a way that is proper for everyone involved in the game. I trust that Blizzard will keep all these things in mind as they move forward with this great idea!
