  • Many of the tail sweeps with knockback effects will no longer hit players’ pets.
  • Level 1 characters no longer start with food or water in their inventory.
  • Attack is now called Auto Attack. The tooltip has been changed to reflect that the player will continue automatically attacking a target.
  • Meeting Stones: To use any Meeting Stone, it is only required that the character’s minimum level be 15. There is no maximum character level requirement for any Meeting Stone.
  • Copied Test Realm characters will no longer be copied with their achievement history in order to better facilitate the character copy process.

These notes and updates are filled mostly with bug fixes (158 if I counted right!) but there are some cool things happening here, too.  Oculus is seeing some nerfs and they’ve tweaked a couple of classes.  Read on for the full list of changes!

Oculus

  • Many bosses and creatures have had their total health reduced.
  • Several bosses and creatures have had cooldowns on specific abilities increased, effect durations reduced, and damage on some of these abilities reduced.
  • Ring-Lord Conjurers and Sorceresses now hang out in packs of 4 instead of packs of 5.
  • Vehicle scaling on the drakes based on the rider’s item level has been increased to make them more powerful.

Paladin

  • Divine Intervention: This ability now also removes Exhaustion and Sated from the target. In addition, the cooldown on this ability has been reduced from 20 minutes to 10 minutes. Cannot be used in Arenas.
  • Lay on Hands: This ability will place Forbearance on the paladin if used on his or herself. It will not place Forbearance on others.

Items

  • Haris Pilton now sells a new 24-slot bag! She has stubbornly decided to remain in Shattrath City, so those interested should seek her out there.

General

  • Icecrown Citadel
    • The Pit of Saron in the 5-player dungeon is currently available for testing.
    • Additional Icecrown Citadel dungeon and raid content will be made available in future test builds.
  • Dazed: Creatures attacking a player from behind can no longer cause players level 1-5 to be dazed, and have a reduced chance to cause players level 6-10 to be dazed.
  • Copied Test Realm characters will no longer be copied with their achievement history in order to better facilitate the character copy process.

Classes: General

  • Default Equipment: Starting weapons are now more uniform. Rogues now start with a pair of daggers equipped. All other classes except shamans start with a 2-handed weapon equipped and the required skill already known. Shamans start with a 1-handed weapon and a shield, as they benefit more from the shield than they would from a 2-handed weapon.

This week Blizzard deployed patch 3.3 to the PTR and released the official patch notes. These notes are full of cool changes and additions and of course the PTR now has part of Icecrown Citadel (The Pit of Saron) available for player testing with the promise of more to come in future test realm builds. There are also some significant changes to class specific spells like Hunter’s misdirection, Rogue’s vanish and Shaman’s fire totem just to name a few. With this patch we will also see changes to health and mana regeneration, racial attribute bonuses and some bug fixes. You can read the PTR Patch Notes for all the information. Please keep in mind these are test realm patch notes and are subject to changes and additions prior to the patch’s release to live servers.

Along with the release of patch 3.3 to the PTR, Blizzard released more details on the Icecrown Citadel. This massive, sprawling instance will include the opportunity for players to battle their way through three separate wings in a progression style, meaning you must complete one before moving on to the next. Each wing will be considered it’s own separate instance, have it’s own lockout timer and items new and unique to reward it’s conquerors. For the full Blizzard post and more detail about the separate wings, check out their post about the upcoming Citadel instances.

maelstromWarning!! The information in this post and the associated links contain MAJOR spoilers regarding WoW’s next expansion!  If you do not want to know this information, we suggest you skip  this!  So, that being said…here goes.  Many details about the new expansion have been leaked over the past week and while none of the included information has been verified by Blizzard at this time, we feel all sources from which it is coming are reliable and have not steered us wrong in the past!  Much of this will likely be announced at BlizzCon this weekend, but you can say you heard it here first!

So, the first thing I’d like to talk about is the raise in the leveling cap.  This is likely only going up five levels to 85.  This suggests that Blizzard wants these five levels to be quite a big deal that gaining even one level will really mean something instead of having a one down four to go feeling about it.

Next up is, of course the new races.  Goblins will be joining the Horde while the Alliance will have the Worgen joining their ranks.  These new alliances will be formed as a result of the events of the Cataclysm.  Each new race’s allegiance will be explained through lore and questlines in much the same manor as the arrival of other races and classes in the past.  With this we will also see some new race/class combos we have never before seen in Warcraft.

crusaders coliseumAh, yes it is patch time again folks!  The much anticipated patch 3.2 is arriving on all realms today and bringing with it some pretty awesome new content as well as changes to currency, mounts, classes , professions, pets, glyphs,  items, the UI, etc…

So, during all that maintenence today, make sure you take the time to read over the most recent patch notes, which I have conveniently listed below.  These notes came directly from the Blizzard updater, so they are the most current at the time of this writing.  If Blizzard releases an update to these later today, we will also update this post.

Call of the Crusade

  • Since the opening of the Argent Tournament in northeastern Icecrown, adventurers have journeyed from across Azeroth and beyond to prove their worth in the heart of the Lich King’s domain. Under thundering skies the tournament’s participants hone the arts of war and face off in bone-shattering jousting matches to earn the right to be called champions. Yet these heroes have yet to face the greatest challenge of all: the Crusaders’ Coliseum. Formidable Horde and Alliance champions, ferocious beasts, and Scourge lieutenants are just some of the opponents awaiting adventurers in this gladiatorial arena. Few will survive the coliseum’s perils, but the Argent Crusade is confident that the worthy heroes who do emerge victorious will be ready to join the offensive against Icecrown Citadel and end the Lich King’s reign of terror.

A few days late, but better late than never right! Thought I would post the full Age of Conan Patch notes for everyone to view while they are supposed to be working!

Also if you haven’t yet gotten a chance you should definitely check out Ashling’s AoC Powerleveling Guide. This guide will lay out the fastest path for every character from level 1 all the way to level 80. This is by far the best guide on the market, I even used it when I leveled my character. I was leveling so fast my own guild began to question if I was cheating…or if I had a chinese farmer playing my character while I was at work! So check out Ashling’s AoC Powerleveling Guide and start leveling faster than you ever thought possible!

General Updates

The first set of these changes were generally aimed at what we termed ‘convenience’ fixes, things that have provided unneeded frustrations for players. Not the largest or most comprehensive changes by any means, but ones that we felt could have a direct influence on the general play experience.

  • We have added more travel NPCs to the capital cities that allow travel to more locations in the game world.
  • The price of the basic mounts has been reduced from 2 gold to 75 silver.
  • The price of additional bags has been reduced by between 20% and 50%.
  • It should no longer be possible to accidently sell your mount.
  • A teleport item, the Totem of Origins is now dropping from boss encounters in group instances. You will be able to acquire it from locations throughout the game starting in the Black Castle. This totem teleports you to your home city once a day and can be used in addition to your path of Asura.
  • It will be possible to get experience from ‘grey’ quests again.

Well the NDA has been lifted, and tons of information is pouring out to the public.  Some of the most useful, but often boring to read, are the patch notes.  You will find tons of good info here though so read on!

Welcome to the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Beta Test. The list below contains information on the current available content for testing and general information. This information is subject to change. Alpha testers should note that your characters have been temporarily locked out. In a few weeks time, we will unlock these characters and you will be able to continue to level them. Please visit the Beta forums to submit feedback and discuss the expansion development with others.

General

  • The continent of Northrend is now available! To travel there, visit one of four transportation masters in either Orgrimmar, Undercity, Stormwind Harbor,or Menethil Harbor.
  • The floating magical city of Dalaran is now available!
  • The Barber Shop has been implemented and you can now visit one of the Barber Shops in the major cities to change your appearance.
  • The all new Achievement System has been implemented.
  • Transportation between Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra can be found at the Tuskarr villages in those zones.
  • The level cap is currently set to 77.
  • Hit Rating, Critical Strike Rating, and Haste Rating now modify both melee attacks and spells.
  • Spellpower:
    • All items and effects which grant bonuses to spell damage and spell healing are being consolidated into a single stat, Spellpower. This stat will appear with the same values found on items which grant “increased spell damage and healing” such as on typical Mage and Warlock itemization.
    • For classes which do not heal, they should see no change in the character sheet other than new tooltip wording.
    • Healing characters will see their bonus healing numbers on the character sheet decrease, however, all healing spells have been modified to receive more benefit from spellpower than they received from bonus healing, with a net effect of no change to the amount healed by their spells. Some talents have had to be rebalanced to accommodate this change, but the amount healed will remain roughly the same. In addition, some talents will provide only healing spell power.
  • NPC Transportation Locations
    • Horde:
      • Undercity to Vengeance Landing (Howling Fjord)
      • Orgrimmar to Warsong Hold (Borean Tundra)
    • Alliance:
      • Menethil Harbor to Valgarde (Howling Fjord)
