Bright Future For A Bloody Game!
On Febuary 24th, an unexpected piece of news hit the Herald, Carrie Gouskos is becoming the new Franchise Producer for Warhammer Online. Although Warhammer has been in rough waters lately, from what I’ve heard they have been gaining a good amount of subs later with the new RvR changes (woot!) which were part of Carrie’s first goals, and they went over well, I think with Carrie Gouskos joining the team, Warhammer is going to have a real bright future with some good (and much needed) updates!
After doing a bit of reading in Patch 1.3.4, it seems as if the some of the PvE of Warhammer Online is going to be switching gears to become more RvR oriented, which is a great step in the right direction in my opinion, how it will affect Warhammer in the long run is still up for debate.
In patch 1.3.5, things are going to be a lot more friendly to casual players, making it so they can actually compete in City Sieges and RvR in general, and still get a good amount of rewards, as I play WAR pretty casually lately (may change with all these nice updates coming out), I think these changes are going to help bring in a lot of new subs.
In Patch 1.3.6, is going to improve the auction house, which is one of the things I hated most about Warhammer, it seemed to me as if it were thrown together hastily at the last minute, however I’m no programmer :-p, but I can tell by using it that it doesn’t work as intended.
So you can see, with Carrie Gouskos, Warhammer is finally seeing changes that should have been added long ago, let’s just hope they keep their promises and keep the updates coming!

Patch 1.2.1 hit live servers on the 16th. This patch brings with it many changes and upgrades so I have included the final patch notes below:
Highlights
Keep Upgrade System
Own a Keep? Want to keep it? Want to get more out of it? Then the new Keep Upgrade system is perfect for you! Guilds that own a Keep can now purchase upgrades to bolster their hold’s utility and defenses in a variety of ways.
Once a Keep has been claimed, a guild member with sufficient permission can speak to the Guild Keep Agent on the upper level of the Keep to choose what upgrades to purchase. These upgrades require a periodic maintenance fee and some are available in multiple levels. Once purchased, upgrades will take time to be completed. This process can be monitored via the new Keep Upgrade Interface. Upgrades will decay if funds are unavailable to pay their maintenance or if a guild member chooses to stop paying for the upgrade.
Combat Responsiveness Improvements
We are always working to improve the overall responsiveness of our game client and server. With version 1.2.1 players will see some significant improvements including the following:
* Casting times have become more accurate under normal play conditions, and players should no longer see a significant “stretch” or “pause” when casting spells in low or moderate latency situations.
* Accuracy of the spell cast UI has been improved. The display will now show 1/2 second increments and will no longer “stretch” time to compensate for latency. Instead, players will see a pause after the bar has filled completely if they are in a high-latency environment.
* Continued improvements to animation and visual effects performance have been made. Players will see smoother transitions between animations and significantly less stuck visual effects, especially when chain-casting abilities.

Starting on Thursday March 5, 2009 final transfers of characters from the following servers will all be consolidated onto Magnus, and these servers will be closed.
- Tor Achere
- Tower of Doom
- Ungrim
What will transfer over with my character?
- All items in your character’s inventory (equipped or otherwise) and bank vault
- All character info (quests, Tome Unlocks, etc.)
- Friends lists
- Guild info, including the entire guild, guild vault, and guild association
- Ignore lists
What will not transfer over with my characters?
- Items that are currently listed for Auction
- Guild alliances
- In-game mail and attachments (both in your inbox and en route to your inbox)
What could make the transfer fail?
If you have characters on Magnus that are of the opposite realm as your characters on Tor Achere, Tower of Doom, or Ungrim, you will not be able to transfer your characters. Also, if a character’s name is not allowed, or you have no open characters slots on Magnus, the transfer will not be able to complete.
What should I do if the transfer does not complete?
In the event that a transfer cannot be completed, you will need to perform the transfer manually by logging into Account Management.
What if I don’t want to be on Magnus?
Starting on March 11th, all characters still present on Tor Achere, Tower of Doom, and Ungrim, along with all the characters that have transferred over to Magnus will be permitted a one-time free transfer to any other server of the same type, regardless of level.
A Call to Arms has been issued to all players of WAR with the announcement of the first live expansion for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Call to Arms will introduce an incredible array of new content to the game, including two highly anticipated new careers (the Orc Choppa and the Dwarf Slayer) and a new dungeon zone called Land of the Dead, set in the desert realm of the Tomb Kings.
The Call to Arms live expansion, set to roll out for FREE over the next few months, will also include three in-game live events, a new RvR Scenario, added functionality to the Realm Wars section of the WAR website, the opening of the official WAR Forums, and a new free trial version of the game.
Call to Arms Live Expansion Schedule
- Call to Arms: Bitter Rivals Live Event: Successful completion of the live event allows head start access to the new Orc Choppa and Dwarf Slayer careers. The event will also introduce a new Chaos-themed RvR Scenario, Twisting Tower which will only be available during this event which begins on Feb. 24th.
- Call to Arms: Beyond the Sands Live Event (April): The promise of great riches and powerful weapons comes from the south.

To gain access to the Land of the Dead, opposing Realms must battle for control of the zone to access dozens of new Public Quests, instanced lairs, and a massive new Tomb Kings dungeon to plunder in search of the Casket of Souls.
We are all totally excited about this new content and we can’t wait to start playing around with the new classes!
